This is a group for speakers determined to provide leadership and good advice for their audiences in the midst of an economic crisis of growing proportions.

This group is for speakers who are also authors or would-be authors. We can talk about co-marketing, how writing and speaking can help each other, how to get started as an author, and so on.

Profile Information

I am a:
Speaker
I speak about:
Attitude, Best Selling Author, Business, Change, Humor, Image/Self Esteem, Inspirational, Leadership, Master of Ceremonies, Motivation, Stress, Success, Training, Writing
My Bio:
Tweed Scott is an award winning speaker and author. His book, Texas In Her Own Words is the winner of three national awards including the prestigious Ben Franklin award. He is the owner of Tejas Communications, a writing and professional speaking company.

Tweed has more than three decades of experience as a broadcast management professional. More recently he has turned his focus on empowering others through the application of what he calls the T-Chromosome.

Mr. Scott started his broadcasting career in Brattleboro, VT but spent most of his career as an Operations Manager or General Manager of stations in Texas. He retired from the business and turned to writing marketing collateral and web site content. Scott wrote his book, Texas In Her Own Words which quickly garnered 3 national awards. He began marketing his book through speaking opportunities and before long became an in demand keynote and after dinner speaker.

Mr. Scott does presentations for both public and private sector clients. He has spoken before such diverse groups as the Texas Attorney General’s Office—Child Support division, the Texas Department of Health, NAWIC—National Association of Women in Construction, Executive Women in Texas Government, city of Pflugereville and several junior high schools throughout Texas.
What I do best:
I speak about leadership, attitude and never accepting NO as an option to life's problems. There is a difference between decisions and choices...they are not the same things.
Speech topics:

"All Stressed Up & No Place to Go" Everybody wants improvement but nobody wants change. If there is one constant, it's change. We must learn how to embrace it and make it work for us...not against us. With change comes stress. Stress is also a big part of life and how we deal with it makes all the difference. I can help your group learn how to deal with both leading toward a happier and more productive life.

"Inventing Texas" – The darndest story about Texas you’ve never heard and every word of it is true. Texas was invented in 1910 and it all started with some children and a dead man. This is the story on how the Texas image was invented and the marketing of Texas began. This story is especially effective in middle schools and for short lunch or breakfast meetings.

“The Texas Mantra: No is NOT an Option” – This gets to the source of the Texas character and why Texans have become HOW thinkers and not IF thinkers. I relate what the source of that character is and how to apply it to your corporate culture and personal life. There’s lots of humor and important concepts to learn along the way.

“So you have a book. Now what?” -- This presentation gets into book marketing, back of the room sales techniques. An author will spend 6% of their time writing their book. They will spend 94% of their time marketing their book. It will always be up to the author to sell their book to the public. That fact is in stone. I can help you find some ways for you to market your book.
I charge a fee of:
$1500-$5K
Some notes on how I charge for my services:
This fee is based on developing/speaking/facilitating a half or full-day workshop on book publishing and marketing. Fees for the half and one-hour speech are reduced and negotiable.

Tweed, welcome to SpeakerSite. I'm glad you're here.

Please take a moment to finetune how much email you get from SpeakerSite. If you work on this for a minute or two, you will avoid being notified too often about activity on SpeakerSite. Here is some advice on the issue.

With thousands of members, SpeakerSite is the largest social network for public speakers and event planners. Our substantial continuing growth is good for all of us. The more speakers and event planners we have, the more opportunities for connecting more speakers with more audiences.

So, I’m wondering: How did you hear about SpeakerSite? Please send me a message.

Anyway, it’s good for you — and all of us — if your profile is great and if you help spread the word. Here are links to two pages that can help:

1. How to Make the Most of Your SpeakerSite Profile.

2. How to Spread the Word About SpeakerSite. Would you please take a moment now to invite your friends? (You can use the "Invite" function in the main menu.)

Feel free to join (or start) Groups -- or put any question in the Forum area. (Of course, make sure your message is appropriate for the particular Forum discussion you‘re visiting.) And feel free to contact me or Rob Emrich. As the co-founders of SpeakerSite, we are here for you.

Thanks!
