I am a:
Speaker
I speak about:
Adventurers, Attitude, Change, Character Portrayals, Communication, Creativity, Empowerment, Family, Life Balance, Networking, Parenting, Relationships, Spouse Programs, Writing
My Bio:
An award-winning fiction writer, I speak at business conferences, book festivals, libraries and schools about the importance of communication, the power of words. My first novel WHITE LIES was inspired by the true story of one mother's search for the truth about her baby's injuries from a vaccine. My second novel Waltzing Cowboys is the adventures of an aging cowboy who returns to NYC to find the son he's never met. Communication is the solution to domestic violence, addiction and world peace.
What I do best:
Ask hard questions in an encouraging, forward-thinking way with a large dose of humor, using books as examples and inspiration.
I charge a fee of:
$1-$500
Some notes on how I charge for my services:
I love charity fundraisers and my publisher will donate a percentage of the book proceeds to the group. My honorarium is waived if more than 50 books are purchased in advance. A book club discount is available for advance purchases of 8 books or more. Travel expenses are sometimes necessary if scheduling is not coordinated with other events in the area.

The power of words: Why Read?

Often readers ask me what made me want to write fiction, or whether I've always written. I love answering that question. After 25 years handling custody and divorce cases, writing fiction with characters who might actually solve a problem or figure out why they keep hurting people they love is very satisfying for me. Ann Patchett's Bel Canto was the solution to world peace. Let terrorists and opera singers and businessmen live in intense proximity with death threatening at any moment and they wi… Continue

Waltzing Cowboys sounds great. I found my sister who didn't know she had one about 7 years ago. She's old enough to be my mother.

Thanks for the friend. One of my recently published stories is "Bullheaded" in This Ain't No Rodeo anthology. The whole anthology is about bull riding or bull fighting. Just love watching bull riding. I think this hat is quickly becoming my trademark. I get compliments on it wherever I go.

Hi, Sarah,
Your vaccination presentation would probably be very relevant to homeschoolers. There's a tremendous amount of competition for speaking at the big conventions, but if you start with the smaller ones, you can reach a lot of people and gradually move up. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

Thanks for your comments on telling stories. Yes, you are right about presentation/delivery being key. Content is still king. I like the theme of your book, Waltzing Cowboys. You express yourself very well - obviously, a sign of a good writer.

Keep speaking . . .

Thank you for the connection Sarah ...lovely.

On the home page of SpeakerSite is a forum inviting members to publicly declare their one burning goal for 2009. It's called 'To engrave, or not to engrave, that will be the outcome'

As a writer, your thoughts and input would be invaluable.

Hope to see you there Sarah, and trust your 2009 kicked off strong.

Sarah, welcome to SpeakerSite. I'm glad you're here.

After only 38 days, we have 1,300+ members. That's good for all of us. The more speakers we have, the more event planners we’ll attract – the more opportunities for connecting more speakers with more audiences.

So, I’m wondering: How did you hear about SpeakerSite? Please send me a message — and, if you like, invite me to be your friend!

Anyway, it’s good for you — and all of us — if your profile is great and if you help spread the word. Here are links to two pages that can help:

1. How to Make the Most of Your SpeakerSite Profile.

2. How to Spread the Word About SpeakerSite.

Feel free to join more Groups -- or put any question in the Forum area. (Of course, make sure your message is appropriate for the particular Forum discussion you‘re visiting.) And feel free to contact me or Rob Emrich. We are here for you.

May 2009 bring you only happiness!

Thanks!
