My Bio:
Gentry Akens

Award winning creative executive Gentry Akens is a leader in the world of design for animation, theme park attractions, film & television sets, toys, gifts, parades, nightclubs, restaurants and more. He has lent his creative talents to the worlds leading entertainment and consumer product companies including Walt Disney World, Universal Studios Florida, Hasbro, Inc., Mattel Toys, Hanna Barbera Studios, and Filmation Studios.

The multifaceted Mr. Akens was the Production Designer and Art Director for live shows and attractions at Disney and Universal theme parks, and popular television shows such as: The Disney Channel’s “Mickey Mouse Club”, Nickelodeon’s “Gullah Gullah Island” and “Taina”; many national commercials spots including “Taco Bell”, “Ford Ranger” and “McDonalds”; and Sr. Creative Director for Universal Orlando’s CityWalk, where he gave creative vision to various venues on site, including the highly successful “Bob Marley’s” Nightclub/Restaurant. Mr. Akens most recently served as Vice President/Producer and Head of Creative Development with Hasbro Inc.’s Property Group (HPG). He is now the Principal and Executive Producer for “Smile Productions”, a Rhode Island based entertainment company specializing in the creative development of story, design and production for animation, television, film and live entertainment. Mr. Akens can be contacted via e-mail at: Gentakens@aol.com, and you may visit his websites: www.smileproductions-inc.com, www.timefordaddy-o.com, www.boandbuzzie.com and “Tissie” at www.Tissie.com.
What I do best:
I am best at teaching and demonstrating how the creative process works. As a former corporate Vice President of Design for Television, Theme Parks, Live Show Entertainment, Toys, Nightclubs, Restaurants and Animation, I have acquired successful techniques that guarantee magic results! My presentations are useful to creative professionals, design and media instructors from middle school to college/university levels, students of these levels, design conferences and creative societies.

I also speak on "how to identify your dreams," and "daring to go after them," and "HOW to achieve your dream, successfully!" The average person is riddled with fear and a belief that dreaming is unrealistic; not reality based! I speak to youngsters, high school and college students, adults in all walks of life to design professionals who need motivation. So many unhappy people stuck in a rut not knowing how to get out or that there is even a way out!

My presentations are colorful, informative and inspirational! It is not uncommon for me to deliver a university level graduation speech to students and receive older adults who approach me with tears to shake my hand and tell me how much they've been inspired to go after their dreams!!
I charge a fee of:
$501-1500

Happy New Year Gentry - I hope 2009 kicked off on a strong and positive note.

On the home page of SpeakerSite is a forum inviting members to PUBLICLY DECLARE their one burning goal for 2009.

The post is called 'To engrave, or not to engrave, that will be the outcome'

Members have braved up and engraved their intention with others as a witness.

Emerging Speakers in the Forum would appreciate input from a Professional with your credentials and extensive background.

We would love to hear your ONEburning goal for 2009 on 'To engrave, or not to engrave, that will be the outcome"

Greetings, Gentry!

Thank you for your post. After reading your profile I was excited to be "speakersite friends" with someone who has such an interesting career! With such a unique and un-common career background, you must have lots of people in your audiences who are eager to hear more about what it's like to design attractions for Disney! Do you incorporate lessons and anecdotes from your career into your training? Sounds like people love your workshops. Bravo to you!

Thank you again, Gentry, for reaching out on speakersite. I'm looking forward to seeing this site grow and unfold it's untapped opportunities.

Gentry, welcome to SpeakerSite. I'm glad you're here.

After nearly four weeks, we have almost 1,000 members. That's good for all of us. The more speakers, the more event planners – the more opportunities for more audiences.

It’s good for you — and all of us — if your profile is great and if you help spread the word.

Here are links to two pages that can help:

1. How to Make the Most of Your SpeakerSite Profile.

2. How to Spread the Word About SpeakerSite.

Feel free to join a Group -- or put any question in the Forum area. Of course, make sure your message is appropriate for the particular Forum discussion you‘re visiting.

Or write me or Rob Emrich. We're here for you.

Thanks!
