SpeakerSite

SpeakerSite works! For event planners and speakers.

Here's the proof.

Be sure to read the experiences of Natalie Siston and Andy Havens below. They received calls -- and Andy received a paying gig! -- through SpeakerSite.

Speakers, as soon as you get a gig, tell us about it. "Reply to This" below with all the details, so everyone can celebrate. And, event planners, as soon as you source a speaker through SpeakerSite, let us know — again, so we can all celebrate.

I am not a professional speaker by any means - it is simply something I love doing and one day hope that it can be a full-time gig. I put my profile on the site as a "kick in the pants" to start working toward this goal.

I have referred a handful of speakers I know to the site and have said "I am not sure if people will go here to find speakers, or if it will be more of a forum for people who speak."

Much to my amazement, I was contacted this week by a student at Ohio State to speak to her group. It's a pro-bono gig, but we all have to start somewhere! She indicated that she found the site through LinkedIn. My lesson on this is that if people are using this without us knowing, imagine what will happen as we all continue to promote it and add it to our other social networking site profiles!

Good luck to everyone and thanks to Artie for creating this site!

Within a couple weeks of registering with SpeakerSite, we had two inquiries for our presentation on "Navigating The Generation Gap at Work". Both are pro bono with interesting groups. Thanks, Artie. Kelly

I am currently organizing a two day conference with a wide range of topics. For this conference we are addressing areas such as Marketing, Development/Fundraising, Human Resources, Leadership, Accounting, and others pertaining to our programs. It's a large conference and having to find speakers for all these areas is a challenge.

A coworker informed me about SpeakerSite and after looking through I found it to be a very beneficial tool. There are so many speakers with different backgrounds and experience all at your fingertips. The search is easy to do and you can connect with the speakers to ask questions through this website. Also, having the ability to post "OPEN CALLS" allows the speaker to find you - increasing your opportunity to find the right speaker for your event. I would recommend it for anyone planning a conference or a speaking engagement.

I have only been a member and active contributor to this website for a little over two weeks and have already been interviewed for a few articles, been invited to be a guest speaker for a few teleseminars, and have been asked to collaborate on a few projects.

Thanks!

I got an email on Jan 2nd, asking about my availability to meet with the leadership committee of a local company. It said, "Neil Ducoff from CT told us to contact you about our staff retreat." I thought, "Neil who?" but called them, anyway. On the 6th, I met with the CEO, the Admin Manager, and the Controller. It was incredible! Exactly what I do! And they are local!!! I expect to confirm the contract when we meet again on the 14th. And it's for full fee.

It seems Neil is their leadership coach. When I joined Speaker Site, he saw my bio and it registered that I'm in Greenville, SC and so is his client. As the CEO is driving down the interstate, Neil is reading her my bio. She gets to one location and emails her Admin Manager to check out my web site and contact me. The rest is history.

While we're making friends and connecting, it's great that we're checking out how we can help each other serve our clients. I thought this would be a nice place to exchange ideas. I am thoroughly impressed that it's a great place to get business!

A couple of immediate off the top of my head:

A speaking gig in another State.
A business collaboration with another Speaker
I have picked up a mentee
I am writing some speeches for another speaker, and
an interview with a news reporter with a news source in my State.

SpeakerSite is a niche site, therefore I have found it acts as a magnifying glass.

When I was a child I set a paddock on fire when I was playing with a magnifying glass trying to set a fire to dry grass. I ran for my life when the fire brigade was called, because the entire field went off like wildfire. I was hiding down the street pissing my pants someone might find out who the culprit was. To this day, I have never told anyone that story, except it came to mind as I was thinking of how niche sites like SpeakerSite can work for you.

In one month's membership: 1 radio gig, a journal interview, and something interesting to do when listening to boring speakers. (smile)

Artie,

Thank you with the deepest gratitude for this amazing concept. You have brought so much abundance into my life. Before SpeakerSite, when you Googled my name, there was only one entry. Now when you Google me, you find FIVE pages coming up. WOW! That is an amazing transformation of visibility in the marketplace.

I've been listed on SpeakerSite for a month or so now. Last week I got a call to give a speech from CCAD, where I teach as an adjunct professor. They didn't even know I did professional speaking as well as teaching until they saw me listed here at SpeakerSite! How weird is that?

Goes to show... it ain't just who you know... it's how they know you.

Artie -- I wanted to clarify my earlier note. I've done a bunch of speaking "pro bono" over the years for various groups, clubs, schools, etc. But the CCAD engagement I mentioned above is a paid one. It's the first such I've had in several years, and it's entirely because of SpeakerSite. I didn't mention that earlier because the details hadn't been confirmed, but I just got the final "OK" on the fee and subject matter... and so it's official!

Great job on the site. This is a super resource for anybody looking to get hooked up as a speaker, and I'm looking forward to sharing more success stories over time.

Will provide more details on how the the went gig after the fact.

Thanks again! Keep up the great work!

- Andy

A call came in just before lunch today to the SpeakerSite Concierge Desk.

It was an event planner in Hillsboro, Texas. The agenda for a major event — 400 people coming tomorrow! — had changed and she needed a great speaker now. She spoke calmly. But, surely, there was apprehension in the air!

We quickly discussed the basics: the SpeakerSite Six W's.

At the Concierge Desk, we searched the SpeakerSite membership. We also issued a broadcast message to all SpeakerSite members in Texas. (Does your profile include your city and state? If not, visit your "Settings" to add it.)

A carefully considered short list was presented within 90 minutes.

In the end — not quite six hours later — Teresa Allen was hired. By now, she's probably already packed for the event. And she'll report on her experience in the Success Stories forum after she returns.

Those Texas members made all of us — you, me, everyone — at SpeakerSite look good.
So many offered to move heaven and earth to make sure the Hillsboro audience was well served. Folks were willing to drive a long way, to shuffle long-standing schedules, to bend their usual requirements.

In the end, all of us here at the SpeakerSite home office are very grateful to so many speakers who so generously and so immediately offered to step in.

Thank you to everyone who offered to step in for demonstrating your professionalism, generosity, and the value of SpeakerSite to all.
