Kathie, I am brand new to the site, and I thought that I mentioned that I am in Lake Forest, Illinois, which is outside of Chicago. My email is lyndao@oconnorpr.com. Being self-published is hard because many newspapers and magazines have policies only to review published books. I do think that if you self-publish and sell lots of books that a publisher will be interested in working with you. Australia is hot now because of the new movie called Australia. People who visit Australia and New Zealand rave about it, so the country has a mystique about it. Too bad you can't establish a bank account in America. What is your book about?

Greetings Kathie,

Perhaps you'd consider a licensing deal with a US book publisher or even a self-published author wherein you give them non-exclusive rights to reprint your book in the US. This may prove to be mutually beneficial in that the US book publisher could send you a royalty every month, quarter or whatever is agreed upon.

There of course is an accountability issue, but truth be told once the book leaves your hands there's a certain amount of trust factor that exist as one never really knows how many books are being printed and sold.

Hi Lynda! As you can imagine, being self-published and in Alaska, marketing is a daily struggle, especially since I'm an army of one with a day job.
So I'm looking forward to reading what you have to say!
